Autism Specialist Tutor

I am urgently looking for a tutor to support a LAC pupil in Year 7, living in the Wigan area (WN7 postcode). The student is working behind expected levels for his age and is working more at Year 1 Level. He requires support with engagement, reading, writing and number work.

He was previously on roll at an SEN school that was linked to his residential placement, and recently had tuition through us in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire but unfortunately his care placements broke down so he has recently moved to Wigan.

He has a diagnosis of Autism but does not currently have an EHCP (it's been applied for). He can find it difficult to regulate and may lose his temper easily, in addition to becoming easily distracted. He benefits from short 'Now and Next' activities with plenty of breaks.

We are looking for a tutor to work with him for 2 hours per day, 5 days per week, starting as soon as possible.

There is no work provided so you will be responsible for planning your own resources.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

ASC knowledge and experience

Resilient to dealing with challenging behaviour associated with ASC

Experienced working with Looked After Children

Nurturing and patient approach

Able to work face to face in the school environment (this referral is not suitable for online tuition)

Able to plan and deliver cross-curricular engaging lessons

Committed to this extremely vulnerable young person for as long as is required - continuity and consistency is key so we are looking for reliable tutors
