Mechanical & Pipework Engineer

Randstad Engineering are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Pipework Engineer to come and work for TATA Steel, Port Talbot on an initial 12 month contract.

This position is paying £38,000 per annum, working 36.5 hours per week Monday to Friday (day shift).

The Role -

Mechanical & Pipework Engineer to manage repairs to fuel gas mains and deliver the required
mechanical integrity of pipework containing fuels managed under COMAH regulations. These are
above ground mains between 36" and 60" diameter carrying process fuel gasses.

Responsibilities

1. Review inspection reports to prioritise and group work activity;
2. Package work activity based on priority, location and efficiency;
3. Write the scope of repair/replace in line with good practice guidance and standards;
4. Manage the tender process to achieve competitive quotes and best value;
5. Compare tenders and select the successful contractor;
6. Initiate the purchase order, planning and any relevant safety requirements;
7. Manage the program of safe work methods of repair or replacement;
8. Manage safe access and interactions with the process and operations;
9. Manage the live working and isolations through permit to work certificates and audits;
10. Compile and audit of the QA documents.

Skills & Experience

• Awareness of EMMUA 231 - Mechanical Integrity;

• Safe Management of Contractors & Subcontractors;

• Competitive Tender Process Experience;

• Experience and operation of Permit to Work Systems;

• Understanding of Pipework Integrity and the management of inspection and repair;

• Experience of large gas main maintenance;

• SAP Experience;

• Risk assessment;

• Have a thorough understanding of welding & fabrication quality control;
