Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Redaction & Publication Officer on a contract until 31st May 2023 on a rate of £156.05/day (outside of IR35). The work pattern will be blended between office and home, with three days in the office and two days at home.

Responsibilities:

Be responsible for the redaction of documents, such as Interviewee statements, hearing transcripts, etc., prior to publication on the organisation's website, ensuring high degrees of accuracy and consistency
Be responsible for the preparation and publication of documents, such as interviewee statements, hearing transcripts, etc., on the organisation's website, ensuring high degrees of accuracy and consistency
Be responsible for the creation and application of ciphers on redacted information, including related cipher databases and process flowcharts, ensuring high degrees of accuracy
Develop extensive knowledge of the organisation's records database and its contents
Work closely with the organisation's Legal and Paralegal Teams, while undertaking the redaction of sensitive personal data before documents and interviewee statements can be released to Core Participants
Ensure day-to-day delivery and completion of business processes, including redaction and publication actions and timelines, preparing reports and making recommendations to update where required
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within organisation, establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and in particular the Legal and Paralegal Teams
Work to ensure the integrity of the organisation at all stages of the redaction and publication processes, safeguarding organisational, personal and reputational risk
Support the Records and Record Management Assistant Head for Redaction and Publication in timely publication of the organisation's finalised documents
In the absence of the Records and Record Management Assistant Head for Redaction and Publication, support colleagues handling sensitive, impacting personal information, and monitoring and supporting the resilience of the team
Ensure the organisation's Restriction Orders and policies are followed and the organisation's data protection and redaction and publication policies
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, such as Data Protection (DP) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Assist in providing support to the organisation's teams and to legal representatives so that they can use the database to its full potential. In particular, Counsel to the organisation will rely on the Records Management team to source documents promptly and assist in preparation of the documentary records
Where required, process and analyse documentary records gathered by the organisation, which will include the handling and management of sensitive and confidential information
Have a critical role, during public hearings, in supporting the organisation counsel and the legal representatives of core participants in having access to all the relevant documentary records
Carry out research tasks, primarily based on the documentary records, in support of organisation's counsel and solicitors

Essential Skills:

High levels of interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications.
Experience of working in small and medium sized teams.
Proven experience of working under pressure and to tight timelines.
Proven experience of handling sensitive information.
Proven experience in working autonomously and assuming responsibility for document quality standards.
An analytical thinker with the ability to also think laterally, i.e. context and jigsaw identification;
Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Excellent skills in attention to detail
Flexibility to work across the various functions in the wider Records Management Team.
