SEND Teaching Assistant / TA needed in South Birmingham

An outstanding SEND school in South Birmingham is looking for a strong SEND Teaching Assistant/TA to work with students with SLD/Severe Learning Difficulties, PMLD/Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and complex medical needs. We are looking for a TA/Teaching Assistant to cover day to day, short-term and long-term temporary positions with a permanent opportunity available for the right applicant.
You will be working under the guidance of the classroom teacher and SENDCo supporting aged between 4-19, with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The role will involve working 1-1 as a Teaching Assistant/TA with children suffering from Autism (ASC) as well as being exposed to challenging behaviour.
You will need to be a kind, caring and patient individual with a positive attitude. Children with Severe learning difficulties/SLD experience great difficulty following the curriculum; with the help of the classroom teacher, you will carefully plan and differentiate work and break it down into small manageable tasks. The ideal applicant will be a positive role model who is happy to use encouragement, praise, and reward to gain self-esteem motivation.
To be successful in this role you will need to be/have:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with at least six months experience in UK Schools.
Driving license and access to your own vehicle
A child centred approach
Conscientious at all times
Experience with MLD or SEND
Consistent approach to challenging behaviour
