The Apuldram Centre is a local, well established independent registered charity, supporting adults with learning disabilities. Our dedicated rural day care centre, close to Chichester, enables the people we support to participate in a wide range of occupationally-focused, fulfilling, enterprising and enriching activities; these include horticulture, cookery, art and craft, drama, recreational sports and other activities that contribute to well-being for individuals with varying levels of ability, mobility and complex needs.
We are seeking a Chair* to lead further improvements in the effectiveness of our board to manage the challenges of a changing risk and funding environment and seek diversification to create long-term sustainability.
What will you be doing?
We seek a Chair* - but will consider options, e.g., co-Chairing - who will lead further improvements in the effectiveness of our board as we manage the challenges of a changing risk and funding environment and seek diversification to create long-term sustainability. Together with management and existing Trustees, you will work to implement an open and accountable governance process that allows the organisation to flourish based on wise and informed decisions.
What are we looking for?
We are interested in someone who:
- has operated in leadership positions in any field; ideally has prior board experience but, if not, is aware how effective boards operate has experience of strategy development, risk management and control systems; ideally in a challenging and changing environment will thrive in situations where there is no easy answer and where change is seen by some as an opportunity, and others as a threat; is collegial and supportive in their approach is excited to develop their skills in an interesting environment; would welcome the responsibility as Chair of the Board.

The Chair of Trustees is a key role in our organisation. Your leadership and commitment will ensure we continue to provide and extend our range of much-needed support and services to the adults with learning disabilities that we support.
A minimum of: 5 Board meetings per annum 1 AGM CEO 1:1 as agreed Optional membership of Governance sub-group and/or Finance sub-group
