About Oxford Brookes Students' Union

We work with students to create spaces and opportunities to build strong communities around common interests and identities. We support students in their personal and academic growth by providing resources, funding and expertise and equipping them with the confidence and skills to effectively represent themselves and others. We want our members to have fun, and enjoy themselves whilst at Oxford Brookes University.

What will you be doing?

Over the past three years, Brookes Union has welcomed a new CEO, a new Chair of Trustees and a new Treasurer. We have completed an incorporation process and are now a CLG alongside being a registered charity. Brookes Union is seeking three professional trustees to support it in the next phase of its development.

We are hoping to become more sophisticated in most areas of work including looking at our People & Culture plan, governance and Board Development and crucially looking at how we deliver and monitor our impact.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking up to three new trustees with demonstrable skills or experience in the following areas:

  • Community Engagement Strategic Human Resource Leadership/People & Culture Development Organisational Change Impact Measurement/Performance Evaluation Income Generation (including grant fundraising) Health and Safety/Compliance

Our Board is made up of a mixture of external and student trustees, so a willingness to help others learn is essential, and experience of coaching/mentoring or people development is desirable.

The Board does not currently reflect the rich diversity of our membership and we are therefore actively seeking applicants from black, Asian and other ethnic backgrounds, disabled candidates, candidates who are care-experienced or those who define as being from working-class backgrounds.
