Field Area Sales Manager – Play, Sport & Surfacing Leaders

Excellent opportunity for a confident and enthusiastic Area Sales Manager to join one of the leading Play, Sport Equipment and Surfacing providers in the UK.

This is a field-based role covering Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, North East London & Cambridgeshire area so we are looking for someone who is located within this area.

We form part of The Abacus Lawrence Group which operates within four companies across the UK. The Abacus Lawrence Group believes in the strength of each subsidiary brand and have streamlined a portfolio around the key areas of Playground, Surfacing and Fitness installation. The aim is to create, design and install a safer active outside space solution to each client. Whether this is through surfacing, playground equipment or fitness and active apparatus.

We have four depots across the UK with 68 group employees including twelve sales representatives. Across the four locations we have a combined annual turnover of £12million in 2021 and are looking to increase our growth with the expansion of the sales team.

The Area Sales Manager Role:

You will report to the Sales Director and be responsible for the Company sales performance within this territory to an agreed sales target. Customers can be any private Company, Public Sector Organisation, or member of the public where our products could be used within Municipal, Educational, Commercial or Private Sectors.

You will be required to work within ISO9001 procedures to identify client, site and product requirements to enable the generation of formal bids and then present proposals to customers. You will then be responsible for the negotiation and close of these sales contracts.

Specifically, the role will involve the following activities on a daily or as required basis:

+ Identify, generate, qualify and progress new sales opportunities from a wide variety of sources including Company marketing and database (Salesforce), third party construction-based project database and own initiative including traditional prospecting, referrals and personal contact network,
+ Effective territory management to achieve sales results to agreed target,
+ Visit clients and gain quotation / tender opportunity,
+ Interpret client requirements to suit Company products and client requirement,
+ Visit potential sites within territory and carry out basic surveys to establish size and critical dimensions.
+ Communication of site, client and product requirements to design team to enable quotation and presentation of proposals -and smooth installation if order secured.
+ Preparation of budget prices from price lists and third-party contractors and communicate costs to the Company design -team and thereafter client.
+ Submission, negotiation and close of sales contracts to achieve monthly sales target,
+ To maintain a high standard of Customer support / after sales care to gain repeat business and referral opportunities.

About You:

+ Confident and enthusiastic advocate of the Company and its products
+ Excellent communication and demonstrable sales skills.
+ Professionally presentable with English as a first or very strong second language.
+ Articulate, confident, persuasive and well presented with good written and verbal skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills at all levels

+ Graduate calibre ideally with previous field sales experience within the playground industry or a history of selling into similar sectors.
+ Sales professional with a methodical, practical, and hands-on approach and demonstrable sales performance
+ Experience in play / outdoor gym market, external landscape products, surveying, or civil engineering would be an advantage
+ Knowledge of commercial construction markets, CDM regulations, play area construction, surveying, security or agricultural fencing installation is an advantage
+ IT skills including knowledge or use of Salesforce and Salesforce 1, Dropbox, and MS office.
