Technical Publications Assistant



Exciting opportunity or a Technical Publications Assistant to join a market leading special purpose vehicles organisation. This role involves creating and maintaining technical documentation, such as Operator's Guides, Maintenance Manuals and Parts Catalogues. As Technical Publications Assistant a large part of the job is preparing and maintaining the technical Parts Catalogues and deciding what is the correct breakdown of parts required for the manual according to the latest engineering changes. This is to allow aftersales support for the lifetime of the product showing all upgrades throughout the life of the product.

Technical Publications Assistant Duties:

Identifying and manipulating CAD drawings and parts lists for inclusion in the Online Parts Catalogue in suitably structured chapters.

Producing drawings, illustrations and photographs for use in the Operator's Guides, Maintenance Manuals and Technical Data accompanied by the relevant instructions.

Review and action of Engineering Changes with the creation and issue of technical publication documentation. Work with the Engineers to understand the equipment and requested drawing changes.

Involvement in Bill of Materials creation and maintenance in our SAP ERP system.

Collaborating with other departments such as Marketing, Sales, Personnel, Health & Safety, to develop newsletters, illustrations, photographs, videos, etc. as required.

Any other duties which may reasonably be required.

Technical Publications Assistant qualifications/experience:

Formal qualifications in Design Technology/Product Design/CAD/CAM/Graphic Design.

Essential software experience: Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Desirable knowledge of Solidworks, Solidworks Composer, SAP CatMan, CatalogCreator, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe PremierePro.

Competent understanding of the written English language.

Ability to understand technical drawings, product structures and Bills of Materials preferred.

Have a good practical understanding of the purpose and requirements of technical product documentation.

Ability to describe technical processes, interest in technical facts.

Have a continuous improvement attitude.

Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Have a proactive and creative approach, not being afraid to ask questions.

Candidate should possess drive, energy, determination with commitment and have ability to coordinate multi-tasks projects, prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.

Candidate should have the ability to work within a multi-disciplined team.
