Maths Teaching Assistant for a SEND High School (Southport, PR9)

The school caters for children aged 11-18 who have Autism and other MLD (moderate learning difficulties) and is based upon values and beliefs that every child should have the opportunity to learn and experience new challenges in an environment that supports them to grow and helps them realise their potential to achieve even with the extra challenges they face.

The school are looking for a teaching assistant that is particularly strong in Maths to help students across KS3-KS5 with their work. This will be a mixture of whole class support and 1:1 support.

The class sizes are around 8 students per class and students still follow the national curriculum so any candidates will need me able to help support with this, providing high levels of support where necessary and finding ways to creatively adapt lessons and support to meet the needs of the students.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have a bubbly, charismatic personality with fantastic communication skills with experience and/or knowledge of moderate learning needs. The school is a fantastic place to work, with a friendly, welcoming staffing team who all have a passion for the work they are doing.

For the right teaching assistant that fits in at the school and matches their high standard of support will be offered the opportunity for a temp-to-perm transition.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience with Autism and MLD.
Great communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with staff and pupils.
A good knowledge of the national curriculum.
The initiative, ability, and desire to creatively support students in lessons.
Energetic and charismatic demeanour.
