Secondary SEMH school

Veritas are currently working with a boys SEMH secondary school based in Redhill. Pupils range within the ages of KS2-KS4. The school are looking for a dedicated and resilient Psychology graduates, to work as Teaching Assistants, to be a positive influence & role model for these young students.

The TA will be supporting SEN students with ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia and also learning and communication difficulties who also have Social and Emotional and Mental Health needs, therefore, an understanding of SEN and an empathetic nature is essential. You will be responsible for improving social skills and monitoring low-level to challenging behaviour. Behaviour management skills are desirable.

The role:

Supporting pupils with Social and Emotional needs, to access their curriculum
Supporting pupils who have Mental Health needs and who are vulnerable. You must lead by example and be a positive role model
Be able to work in a reduced class size
Helping support pupils with alternative learning provision (ALP) so pupils who cannot access the in-school provision has access to a purposeful and appropriate programme of learning
A calm, cool and collected mind-set is needed to help vulnerable pupils who present challenging behaviour
Resilience and optimism is needed to overcome difficult situations
