Job Title: Tax Accountant (Permanent, Full-time)

Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire (remote working available 3 days per week)

Salary: Circa £50k - £60k (plus benefits including: 9% pension & healthcare)

Robert Walters are hiring for a Tax Accountant for a world-leading professional membership organisation.

This is a full-time permanent role. The role is based in their main office in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, with remote working available for 3 days per week.

The role comes with a salary of circa £50,000 to £60,000 plus a great benefits package (including 9% pension contributions, family-level healthcare).

Job Summary:

To support the Tax Manager with tax processes, activities and controls ensuring compliance in addition to the provision of proactive advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax related matters.

Responsibilities include:

Supporting the Tax Manager with:

Tax Compliance and Advisory for the group including Trusts and Subsidiaries, covering:

VAT (this is the primary focus with specific attention to partial exemption and reverse charge VAT)Corporation Tax

Employment Taxes

International Tax

Other Taxes as appropriate

Preparation of relevant HMRC returns and tax certificates

Managing the Employment Status processes for new contractors

Contribute to continuous improvement of processes to ensure efficiency and adequate financial control

Supporting input to Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting re Tax ensuring that any effects of irrecoverable VAT, Corporation Tax or other taxes are taken into consideration

Input to the cashflow forecasting process with respect to cash inflows and outflows from VAT or other taxes

Proactive advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax related matters (e.g. new activities; contractual arrangements, proposed changes to tax rates/ rules etc)

Scanning the horizon for changes in tax and accounting legislation and reporting on potential impacts for the company

Ownership of own personal and career development through on-the-job coaching and up-skilling including maintaining up to date tax training

They are looking for someone with mixed tax experience, but the company are also happy to consider candidates just with VAT and Indirect tax experience. Ideally you will be a qualified accountant or tax advisor (ACA / ACCA / ICAS / CTA) with relevant tax experience.

You will ideally be technically strong (in particular VAT and Partial Exemption) and have up to date knowledge of accounting standards and filing requirements.

Ideally you will also have systems knowledge of tax software such as AlphaTax and CCH and strong knowledge of accounting software, preferably Microsoft NAV and D365 CRM.
