Data Architect - £650.00 per day + VAT Outside IR35

SPG - Resourcing has partnered with a leading consultancy to support them with hiring a Data Architect for a large complex programme of work.
Working as part of a wider technology teams you'll determine the logical design and information management strategies necessary to store, move and manage data within the business to ensure they deliver high quality customer service within a modern connected business and support data driven decision making and actionable insight.

You will ensure the current architecture is clearly documented and develop new target architectures to meet the needs of our business.

You'll be responsible for the logical data model and data dictionary, and these remove doubt over the meaning of data and its ownership. You will work closely with the data governance and data warehouse leads in the Data & Analytics team to ensure the business can use high quality data to deliver reporting and insight to the business.

Key Deliverables

Model the future state of the data architecture (current and future) and provide data architecture best practices and guidelines.

Collaborate with the data governance lead in the data & analytics team to work with business leaders to produce clear data architecture documentation that makes our data structures, data formats, data flows and master data relationships unambiguous and available to the whole organisation.

Determine overall modeling standards, guidelines, best practices and approved modeling techniques.

Responsible for the creation of all conceptual, logical and physical data models either personally or through 3rd parties included the definition of master data relationship.

Review proposed data models contained in packaged or commercially available applications before they are bought.


You'll have a solid understanding of data warehousing techniques as well as an in-depth understanding of database structure principles.

An analytical and enquiring mind and the ability to think critically.

Comfortable 'selling' the data story to a wide range of business users at all levels

Previous experience with databases and data query languages such as T-SQL, PL/SQL or similar will be a given, but any familiarity with SQL Server, ETL tooling, Cloud data technologies such as Snowflake or Visualisation tools (Power BI, Qlik, Business Objects) would be a big benefit
