Connex Education are currently recruiting a number of Behaviour Learning Mentors for a school based in Nottingham, to work on a full-time or part-time basis, starting ASAP for the rest of the Summer term with a permanent option on offer if desired.

You will be required to work with varied groups of pupils, who have complex learning needs, on either a 1:1 or small group basis; assisting with their learning and social development skills in an alternative provision setting. The particular school you would be working with is a part of a wider trust of schools with academies spanning across Nottingham and Derby and they are very eager to build upon their support staff team so this is a great opportunity to network and build up contacts within busy, successful academies.

Better yet - for this role, we will be able to offer you a guaranteed pay option meaning that if work isn't available we will still pay you!!! (Term time only - some conditions apply)

As the successful learning mentor, you will be a confident, independent professional who can demonstrate their commitment into supporting young people with special educational needs or need extra support with their learning. You must be confident in your ability to manage challenging behaviour and support and motivate children to succeed, previous experience working with students with SEND would also be desirable.

Connex Education are committed to supporting talented individuals with their career in education and are currently able to offer a funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant course to staff who are able to support on a full time basis and who hit the criteria (enquire on this today for more information.)

Resilience is key to this position as you must be adaptable to challenging situations and willing to use initiative when working on a 1:1 basis.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:
- To work under the guidance of the class teacher to support teaching and learning in the classroom
- To provide morale and social/family support to designated young person
- To use behaviour management strategies effectively and in line with the school's policy and procedures, which contribute to a purposeful learning environment
- To promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- To work 1:1 with an allocated student and provide support in all educational areas

Person Specification:
- Evidence of working with challenging behaviour
- Awareness of safeguarding young people
- High degree of resilience, would suit individuals from a HM Forces / Policing background
- Good communication skills
- Team player
