About the role;
The Flow Room team monitor and control the Automated Sortation System (APSS) and system software in order to ensure that all key performance measures for system availability and efficiency are achieved. They will manage the relationship between the operations and engineering teams and provide systems reporting. The role holder must have an understanding of the functionality and operation of the APSS and play a key role in ensuring the site performs effectively and efficiently.
Knowledge
Detailed understanding of the functionality and operation of automated warehouse operations or flow systems, ideally in a sortation environment
Customer focused and aware of the external and internal requirements for quality, efficiency and accuracy.
Management of automation control systems, including, Warehouse control systems (WCS), Warehouse management systems (WMS), Yard Management Systems (YMS) & SCADA
Desired experience:
Flow/Control Room management experience in a fast moving, deadline driven environment
Experience of managing large scale automation operations and the challenges they bring
Experience of yard management and use of Yard management software
Good analytical and technical background, able to understand data and systems flows
Flexible approach with a desire to exceed targets through proactive management
Presents information in a professional way
Must have Skills
Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills
Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build trust
Resilience, tenacity and self-starter
Results and output oriented
Ability to influence and challenge in a positive style
Duties
Manage the APSS performance using our automation control systems SCADA, CCTV and WMS ensuring maximum utilisation and availability of the machine
Make timely business critical decisions based upon the data feeding into the flow room, ensuring bottlenecks and single points of failures are adequately managed
Ensure all mail types are processed on time. Instruct and influence managers within the operation with their holistic view of the site
Designing and reviewing system and flow room standard operating procedures
1st line support for mechanical and system issues raised by the operational teams
Prioritise faults and incidents occurring simultaneously in the operation. Rectifying the assets with the largest impact first
Review SCADA system data to identify reoccurring faults across a time period and requesting preventative maintenance and repairs in conjunction with the Engineering team
Works alongside the engineering team and ensure assets are available at the time requested for pre preventative maintenance (PPM)
Efficient and accurate reporting and fixing of faults and unexpected behaviours with resolver groups and the senior leadership team
Management of system parameters to ensure optimal flow of product throughout the systems
The role is located in South Elmsall, flexibility to work shifts is desired, salary is £32-£36k per year
