We are working with a British manufacturer of world beating off highway vehicles and equipment. The business is seeing unprecedented levels of orders coming from all over Europe and beyond.
The business has asked us to assist in the search and recruitment for a commercially aware and tenacious Senior Buyer to work within a particularly important part of the commercial and procurement team.
More about the Senior Buyer role:
As Senior Buyer you will be responsible for consulting with stakeholders in the business to define and ensure supplier performance criteria is met and implemented through the sourcing strategies. You will provide the link between the category management team and other areas of the supply chain.
You will need to make recommendations and liaise with the respective business unit and category teams to receive and advise the strategic direction. You will also be responsible for supplier escalation, collaborating with suppliers direct to sort and resolve supply chain problems which could have an impact on production and manufacturing.
You will be working with suppliers to ensure supply, reminding them of their contractual obligations and as a last case, the financial and commercial consequences of late or incomplete orders. You will be looking at shortening lead times as getting product into complete orders is vital.
You will be required to have an in depth understanding of the products/services required by the business and make recommendations that motivate a change in contract or products that drive competitive pricing.
It is imperative that you have the confidence and ability able to build constructive relationships with all stakeholders.
Assist stakeholders in establishing and managing to resolution issues relating to price, capacity, quality, and customer service / warranty.
To oversee the implementation of strategies, facilitate the timely execution of products for new product launches and supplier recovery and / or improvement programmes.
Work with the team to develop commercial contracts to deliver the needs of the business.
Support category strategy development and define supplier performance criteria based on business knowledge and intelligence.
Initiate and build stakeholder management to ensure delivery of projects. Identify the business structure collaboration required to ensure optimisation of resources within a category.
Deliver robust implementation plans in line with the sourcing strategy. These plans should support, but not be limited to:
Effective early supplier engagement.
Cost Saving projects
Supplier performance targets
Monitors progress of strategies and modifies in line with the changing business environment.
As Senior Buyer you will be Degree-educated (or equivalent), with an Engineering or Business background, you will be used to Purchasing in manufacturing environment. Your experience has given you an understanding of several key areas:
Supplier contracts and project management.
While this expertise is vital, success will depend on the way you deal with people.
We are looking for excellent communication skills that help you negotiate lead teams. Ideally, you'll bring a CIPS qualification too. But we are more interested in financial awareness, NPI experience and keen attention to detail.
