My internationally renowned client is seeking Senior Mechanical Engineers looking to expand their horizons in a dynamic consulting environment, who have experience in gearbox and/or electric drive unit design and development, to join our team and become a technical leader in our projects for global OEMs.
Responsibilities :
* Contributing to and technically leading projects or work package in Drivetrain design, e.g., gearbox, electric drive unit, actuation system, Automotive process improvement projects Troubleshooting projects (e.g., durability, vibration, efficiency failures)
* Delivering technical work - Drivetrain design in Catia (Gearbox components, Motor components, Inverter packaging and integrating)
* Carrying out yourself or specifying and reviewing outputs of structural analysis or manufacturing process simulation to make design decisions
* Liaising with manufacturers and test houses to deal with non-conformances and development issues
* Process reviews at our customers to seek areas where the simulation technology can add value to customers' design or manufacturing processes
* Discussions with customers in meetings and web-meetings (supporting sales teams to understand customer needs, writing proposals for project work, project delivery )
You will have:
* 5+ years' experience in a related area and relevant qualifications - e.g., mechanical engineering degree
* An excellent understanding of the design and manufacturing processes for transmissions or similar complex mechanical components
* A passion for elegant design with feel for the impact of design decisions on manufacturing, maintenance, assembly, performance, and aesthetics.
* A simulation driven approach - even if not necessarily to do simulation yourself, or be able to ask the right questions to ensure useful and accurate simulation results
* A sound knowledge of manufacturing for mechanical components such that you can sign-off drawings of transmission components and liaise with manufacturers
* Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in developing skills in using CAE tools
* A willingness for occasional international travel for customer / supplier visits
