Elevation Accountancy & Accountancy are currently working with an impressive manufacturing business based in Shipley to recruit an Assistant Cost Accountant, initially on a 12 month Fixed Term contract to support the team during a busy period of growth.

The post holder will support the Cost Accountant ensuring that month end reporting timetables are achieved, and that detailed and accurate information exists to support the management team and other colleagues with informed financial decisions, whilst helping analyse, summarise and explain financial information and trends to other departmental members and non-finance colleagues alike.

This role will include:

* Weekly monitoring, querying, and reporting of manual inventory adjustments
* Reporting and development of Inventory SOX controls
* Updating new bill of material costs
* Investigating costing queries
* Monthly variance analysis, reporting and updating of standard costs
* Overseeing monthly automated close of system ledgers
* Cost of sales and inventory journal provisions
* SOX compliance and testing including approval routes
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Forecasting Cost of sales, margins and inventory levels
* Assessing cost/benefit of Capex/efficiency proposals
* Participating in the management, planning and execution of externally audited annual stock takes and WIP checks
* Annual revaluation of standard costs
* Preparing and arranging authorisation of aged inventory write offs
* Financial guidance and support for government development funded projects

Elevation Accountancy & Finance would be keen to speak with candidates with the following skills and experiences:

* Good all round knowledge of financial accounting systems and procedures
* Studying towards a formal accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
* Currently qualified to least to AAT level or equivalent
* Strong double entry acumen and knowledge of basic costing principles
* Previous experience of working in a busy, time constrained, finance department
* Any active participation in systems or internal process development would be of benefit
* Excellent Excel skills with experience of, preparing, analysing and interpreting data
* Strong IT acumen with a desire to build further skills in this area
* Available to start on short notice and commit to term agreed
