Hanson Lawrie are currently recruiting an experienced Project Buyer to join a busy and dynamic team within an established and growing engineering business.
We are specifically looking for buyers that have a background or knowledge of engineering practices such as turning, milling, and general fabrication as ideally candidates should have the ability to interpret technical drawings.
At any time, you will be buying for multiple projects working closely with the individual project manages and working with existing suppliers as well as sourcing new suppliers for varying volumes and all values of goods. You will also be responsible for buying direct and indirect goods and services.
You will also be undertaking the following tasks as part of your procurement role:
Issuing Requests for information and Requests for quote
Ensuring project deliverables are met regarding cost, time, and terms
Reporting on delivery performance and cost savings
Liaising with accounts to resolve invoice queries
Raise and resolving supplier issues
Liaising with shop floor re goods inwards
You should have strong negotiating skills, and the ability to build rapport with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure strong supplier performance and relationships are maintained.
This is a fast-paced environment where teamwork is essential as is the ability to manage your own workload in line with deadline and timeframes.
