Furness College launched the South Cumbria Multi Academy Trust in May 2021 in a move to strengthen education across the area. Chetwynde School, in Barrow, was the first to join the Trust, improving education for young people through sharing staff knowledge and expertise, high-quality teaching and the College's world-class facilities. Additional member schools are scheduled to join in September 2022.

With its long history of ship building and the presence of a large number of international employers, Barrow-in-Furness is a vibrant place to work and live. With new member schools set to join, the Trustees are now seeking to appoint an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide HR support to the Trust, ensuring that it meets statutory employment and equality regulations, and to lead the areas of responsibility and any external service providers to ensure a high quality of delivery of services. This is a new post in our Central Team and it offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic and experienced professional.

The Operations Manager will oversee the site management, administration, cleaning, Health & Safety, catering, IT and other non-teaching support areas and to line manage their designated leads across the Trust, establishing a performance management culture with effective staff appraisal and a commitment to professional development.

As a key member of the team, the Operations Manager is expected to bring a modern, business-like approach, creating an operating structure which enables a strong focus on service excellence, delivery and value for money.

The Trust is expected to grow over the next three years and the post-holder must have the ability to lead staff recruitment, and ensure HR policies and documentation are in place, regularly reviewed and updated. The post-holder will provide HR advice to relevant personnel, support the Headteacher, CFO and CEO with HR matters within the Trust, referring to external HR provider where necessary.

Salary: £34,373 rising to £35,366

Hours: 37 hours per week, full year

Pension: LGPS
