I am currently working on behalf of an educational organisation who are looking to recruit a payroll officer. Initially for upto 12 months to cover a maternity leave. The role is to start ASAP and will be based in their office in Sutton, Surrey (no remote working available). As part of the onboarding your will need to work a half day trial day and also have DBS taken up.The experienced Payroll Officer will join a dynamic and committed payroll team. You will provide a high-quality payroll service for all employees, accurately inputting data into the Payroll system (Select Pay), liaising with HR colleagues, schools and departmental managers and calculating payments.Your duties as the payroll officer will include:Accurately inputting data into the Payroll system to ensure that appropriate employee details are correctly set up and calculated in accordance with statutory and contractual requirementsRegularly input ad-hoc payroll adjustments (e.g. union deductions, season ticket loans, pay claims) by required deadlinesComplete month end processing including posting journals into the finance system and balance sheet reconciliationsworking in a team of 5 to process 17 monthly payrolls of circa 2,000 employees.

The right person for this role will have;Demonstrated payroll processing experienceUnderstanding of payroll legislation and processesIdeally have at least a basic knowledge of pay and conditions of service for Local Government staff and teachers (and the pension scheme)The ability to work to tight deadlines
