Senior Java Developer

Hippo Digital is recruiting Senior Java Developers to join our Hippo Herd. Java Developers work in multi-disciplinary teams that build, support & maintain User-Centred digital solutions that offer real value and work for everyone.

Hippo's Senior Java Developers are experts in their field. You will act as a Senior Consultant providing technical expertise in software engineering practices both internally and to our clients. You will be a leader, and have the ability to manage projects, maintain client relationships and be passionate about developing and upskilling others.

Your role in nutshell:

• Produce software for Hippo and our clients - front-end, back-end, platform, we do it all, but you don't need to be an expert in it all
• Create web applications used by public and staff - this includes researching with members of the public to understand their needs
• Work within an agile, collaborative, multidisciplinary team
• Prototype new functionality prior to committed development
• Utilise the latest standards and approaches to solving problems
• Build great relationships with your team and stakeholders
• Work with the Hippo community to share best practice to ensure high standards
• Line management of colleagues within your profession
