Job Title: Senior Manager, R&D Procurement - Lab Asset & Services

Job Purpose:

Accountable for all sourcing and contract management for the Analytical Services category, supporting the global analytical teams across R&D and QC laboratories. This will include the development and implementation of category strategies; the contracting for master/service/product agreements within the categories and identification of appropriate buying channels; the management of supplier relationships that fall outside of the enterprise SRM structure for this category and for ensuring the suppliers key to the category commit to deliver GSK's performance/quality/financial requirements.

  • Complex sourcing and category management role in GSK
  • Key role in Strategy Development
  • Contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation, and maintenance; manages / monitors ongoing negotiations with 3rd parties
  • Will work across multiple countries requiring high cultural awareness
  • Champions the sourcing group management process and policies across functions and links these to GSK's strategic direction
  • Knows and utilises complex business processes in all GSK supplier transactions, including all risk/regulatory/compliance requirements
  • Implements and supports procurement strategies to maximise supplier leverage
  • Significant external supplier knowledge
  • Manage the end-to-end process to challenge sourcing approach and scope of the business requirements. Challenge and drive continuous improvements with in-house Vs third party Vs outsourcing approach.
  • Manage Analytical testing strategies and collaborate where there are synergies with other global procurement groups and/or categories Direct & Sites, Lab Services, Staffing, etc.

  • Relevant experience in procurement supporting global analytical capabilities or other scientific services provisions
  • Proven negotiations and contract management skills.
  • English proficiency (written and oral)
  • Degree Educated
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills to protect GSK rights and interests
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects using project management skills
  • Proven ability to provide effective procurement management in complex organizations using technical expertise and analytical skills
  • Ability to strategy for the procurement of Analytical testing services to ensure high quality of services and ensure GSK's competitive position
  • Contracting experience required, including a thorough understanding of contracting fundamentals and experience with contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation, and maintenance
  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to deploy strategies globally/regionally, facilitated by robust implementation and transition plans
  • Generate value in terms of quality, delivery, and cost; contribute significantly to organization's goals and objectives
  • Experience delivering quality, compliant, timely, well-specified agreements to generate a clear return on investment for GSK.
  • Market knowledge of supplier capabilities (current and future) is required to acquire and maintain competitive advantage.
