SPECIALIST SEN TEACHER
Part-time, 3 days per week,
fixed term contract up to August 2023

We have a unique role for a suitably qualified teacher with advanced experience of Special Educational Needs. Working directly with the SENDCO and key stakeholders, this role will operate at strategic level to ensure specialist provision is in place to meet the needs of students.
As the successful candidate, it is essential that you are a qualified and experienced teacher, although you will not have a teaching timetable. Your role is to support our teaching staff in providing advice, support and guidance on the most appropriate methods of teaching. You will be a proven strategic thinker with in-depth knowledge of SEND in an education setting, which must include working knowledge and experience of Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance. You will be skilled in managing challenging behaviours in young people with SEND and also have experience of training or coaching others to ensure strategies for supporting and managing challenging behaviours are implemented effectively and consistently.
This role is linked to EHCP funding for one student, with 15 hours per week dedicated to ensuring the best possible measures are in place to support the health, well-being and attainment of this student. The role will remain in place for as long as the student remains at our school (currently in Year 10).
As an assertive, well-organised individual, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the requirements of the EHCP are fully met and that the student receives the best possible education and support. You will be pro-active, dynamic and an excellent communicator at all levels. You will be able to build successful relationship with young people and able to foster positive working relationships with students and staff.
