Director, Enterprise Architect - End User Experience

The Director, Enterprise Architect for End User Experience domain will be responsible for setting the organisations end user experience vision, strategy and roadmap to enable the organisation.

With a passion for delivering innovative technology, you will own the lifecycle of domain roadmaps, which are developed through collaboration, are based on data driven measurements and align with our business objectives, You are a strategic problem solver and technologist who is instrumental in transforming how IT services are leveraged to support company growth.

This is a critical role for implementing the strategy while working with the End user services engineering & operations team that will support our end user devices, Virtual Desktop/Application services, Modern workplace, Productivity and Collaboration services. You will help us solve problems around end user productivity, technology sprawl, balancing security with user experience, integrating platforms, and enabling our technology to scale for GSK growth expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with technology leaders, product owners, solution architects for developing roadmaps, frameworks, reference architectures, and artifacts. align on strategic direction, translate business requirements into technology roadmaps and participate in planning how roadmaps will be realised.
  • Seek consensus from domain experts before making key architectural decisions in technology, processes, and people topics.
  • Participate with engineering leads in the design process to ensure detailed designs adhere to and are consistent with the target architecture.
  • Lead evaluation of next generation technologies by conducting RFI, RFP, and POCs.
  • Perform an annual update of the vision, values, methods, obstacles, and measures for your domains. Conduct a quarterly update/review of the technology roadmap.
  • Participate in business partner and vendor product roadmap development as a method of realising our vision.
  • Participate in the architecture community of practice, technology talks, external events, conferences, and customer briefings.
  • Define the global strategy for delivering a consistent end user experience, across client endpoints, mobile devices, collaboration services, endpoint security, directory services, authentication, and virtual desktop/application services.
  • Collaborate with the business, engineers, administrators, operators, and support staff to ensure technology architecture is realistic, secure, supportable and usable.
  • Be an evangelist for new product features as well as voice of customer for internal customer needs
  • Be a champion of cultural change, process change, and skills training required to transform and scale the teams.
  • Create, publish, and enforce end user technology guidelines and principles.
  • Work closely with the Head of Enterprise Architecture to build and govern an enterprise architecture framework that underpins the Global Tech strategy and is aligned to business objectives
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and approaches for your domain, architecture governance and tooling, domain leadership role in the Enterprise Architecture Leadership Team to work with other functions of the Enterprise Architecture Function to drive the maturity of the group and ensure delivery of seamless, end-to-end Enterprise Architecture Services.
  • Responsible for steering / driving the most important and complex future planning activities and projects. Involved in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the research / investigation, selection, development, implementation and use of end user experience technology and platforms within the organisation.

  • Progressively responsible experience as an engineer and as an enterprise architect in end user hardware and software technologies
  • Experience working in Agile / DevOps organisation
  • Experience working with ITIL, ITSM, TOGAF, or similar frameworks
  • Experience working in heterogeneous technology environments (preferably with a high volume of Windows, Mac endpoints and SaaS services)
  • Experience working in highly secure environments with active participation in negotiating security risk with business value or operational impact
  • Be a leader with vision in the architecture space, leading efforts to define, advocate, and present solutions that meet customer requirements and ultimately deliver business value.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with internal customers and establish strong, collaborative partnerships with engineers, non-technical leaders, and executives.
  • Experience in seeking the alignment of business and IT, driving common approaches, delivering sustainable, re-usable solutions using both agile and waterfall. Demonstrated ability to motivate change and challenge the status quo
  • Ability to work in close partnership with other IT functions such as, security, compliance, infrastructure, etc. as well as partner closely with business leaders across global tech organisations to maintain the architecture in line with end user experience strategy
  • The ability to mentor, foster and instil architectural and engineering principals, skills, and practices
  • Ability to assess a situation and provide guidance at the strategic as well as tactical level.
  • Diligent without losing sight of the big picture.
  • A self-starter who inspires others with their work ethic and drive.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in written documents

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of regulations that impact the Pharma industry (e.g., GxP, GDPR / Schrems, Sarbanes Oxley).
  • Understanding of core end user technology platform & operational technologies in pharma industry environments.
  • Any of the following a bonus: EA (e.g. TOGAF), Cloud Architect Certifications (Azure, O365, GCP, AWS). ITIL / Agile/Product certifications.
