We are looking for motivated, multi-skilled engineer with extensive experience working within food manufacturing environments to join our team at PRESTON SITE to work 4on/4off shift

The role will focus on maximise efficiency's by ensuring manufacturing downtime is minimised by continuously striving to improve the equipment to meet the operational needs of the business. As an experienced multi-skilled engineer, you will resolve engineering issues and will be involved in the commissioning and implementation of new equipment at site.

SHIFT:4 ON / 4 OFF18:00 - 06:00

Salary: £22.20 per hr

The main duties of the role include:
  • Maintain machinery and equipment to optimum standards safely with minimum downtime
  • Provide a rapid response to breakdown situations and utilise time effectively to ensure known jobs are completed in a succinct time-frame
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained
  • Ensure the efficient usage of spare parts, consumables, and equipment
  • Ensure that all health and safety and food hygiene procedures are always adhered to
  • Maintain open and constructive lines of communication with the Production Department
  • Liaise and escalate with all levels of management across all functions relating to engineering activities.
  • Any administrative duties as required in the fulfilment of the engineering plan
  • To decrease time lost due to breakdowns
  • Satisfactory completion of the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule
  • Risk assesses all jobs, to reduce the risk to health and safety issues in your area
  • Responsible for and the ongoing support of daily 'start ups' in the production area
  • Support the learning and development of the apprentices
  • Be conversant with four strategic pillars (QVIP). Champion this within the department and the wider site
  • Be fully trained in the Manufacturer's maintenance recommendations, lubrication requirements and critical
  • locations on the equipment
  • Trained in good engineering practices to reduce the risk of product contamination
  • Contribute to KPIs in quality, health, safety and environment, yields and customer service
  • Highlight areas of improvement
  • Ensure that all statutory (industry guidelines), legal, food safety & customer requirements are met
  • Understand relevant legislation, internal company policies and procedures, codes of practice, technical
  • specifications, COSHH regulations and developments in H.A.C.C.P systems relevant to the department
  • Document PPM checks and record any necessary corrective action
  • Adhere to all rules, processes, and procedures in relation to the work

The successful candidate will:
  • Have experience of chilled food FMCG (preferred)
  • Have worked within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Be qualified to HNC/NVQ Level 3 in any engineering discipline
  • Be health and safety conscience (qualifications are desirable)
  • Preferably have worked with Handtmann, Reiser and Proseal machines
