Platform Engineer - £45,000-£50,000 - Manchester

The Role

Are you able to demonstrate a good understanding of technologies needed to develop, maintain and deploy containerised micro-services to edge devices? Do you have experience in using Linux/Unix operating systems with a focus on edge devices and virtual machines in the cloud? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are extending our Platform team at SeeChange and are seeking a Platform Engineer, to provide a versatile platform to deploy our AI solutions to the edge using containerised micro-services.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a Platform Engineer include, but are not limited to:
  • Use your on-device containerised application capabilities to establish device reference platforms targeting a variety of different use cases.
  • Create messaging integrations to equip a connected AI ecosystem with the ability to adapt to change and support rapid growth.
  • Build integrations between cloud technologies, IoT devices & Artificial Intelligence solutions as part of our high-performing development team focused on the real-world implementation of AI solutions.
  • Solve the technical challenges involved in creating applied AI software and build solutions which meet our robust requirements for stability, auditability and control.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Platform Engineer:
  • You will embrace DevOps CI/CD Pipelines and be energised by working towards intra-day release cycles
  • You will possess strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities and be able to design functioning implementations of AI enabled solutions
  • Go and/or Python and/or C++ languages
  • Containerisation and orchestration technologies, e.g. Moby, Docker, Kubernetes
  • IoT device management and observability, e.g. Azure IoT, Google IoT Core, AWS IoT Greengrass, Telegraf, Fluent-Bit, InfluxDB, Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog
  • DevOps and automation tools, e.g. GitLab CI/CD, Ansible etc.
