This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled and experienced cross-divisional team to deliver on several programmes of work, delivering technology solutions to enable the LSEG Index business which includes the well-known brand FTSE Russell. The role will be focused on demand from the business for our new Data Platform and Services for Index (IDPS); primarily to deliver on the strategic Index Refactoring programme, as well as deliver against ongoing demand for data services from the BAU Index Portfolio.

The Index Refactoring programme will not only transform the Technology estate but also the Business and how it operates. The main objective is to refactor the current fragmented system estate into a modern, scalable Index Platform to drive through significant scale up of the LSEG Index business through quicker time to market and self-service/direct indexing solutions, as well as harness strong data and distribution capabilities from the wider organisation making FTSE Russell index data more easily and widely available to the market. A key component of the future state Index Platform is IDPS which is being built out in parallel.

The role is a Business and Technical Analysis focused role within LSEG Technology working within an Agile Delivery framework and would own the delivery of work through the Agile Release Train and Value Delivery Streams, whilst maintaining Technology Roadmaps in alignment with Technology Strategy and Business Vision. Furthermore, the role is exposed to a wide, cross divisional stakeholder group; bringing together talent, skills and experience from across the organisation; making it a great opportunity for a creative, yet pragmatic individual who can make the role their own.

It is a role where, as Technology Product Owner, you can establish yourself as an SME on the Index business and the key role Data plays; and the technology solutions enabling the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Defines the Vision by
    • Keeping in line with business goals for the Index Data Services value stream
    • Creating a technology roadmap for the value stream
    • Communicating & partnering with stakeholders from Product, Operations and Technology to understand the business needs
  • Prioritises Business Needs for Index Data Services by
    • Liaising with business delivery managers, project management and technology delivery to manage scope, budget and time to prioritise work
    • Considering the needs and objectives of all stakeholders
  • Manages the Technology Product Backlog by
    • Mapping out dependencies
    • Prioritising work based on overall strategy
    • Creating and maintaining a list of backlog items at business outcome level
    • Identifying risks
  • Oversees Development Delivery by
    • Contributing to Program Increment Planning as well as the planning, execution and review of each sprint
    • Working with the team to refine and improve the development & delivery process(es)
    • Defining the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and agreeing with the team the right Definition of Done for Outcomes to achieve business goals
  • Anticipates Business Needs for Index Data Services by
    • Understanding and anticipating business needs to manage the Delivery process
    • Having knowledge and understanding of the business
    • Creating customer journeys and/or artefacts to illustrate understanding of the business need(s)
  • Acts as Primary Liaison and is the Technology voice for Index Data Services by
    • Gaining buy-in from business stakeholders
    • Participating & Contributing in Solution Intake & Design to ensure the business needs are met and Architectural Governance is applied for architecturally significant initiatives
    • Presenting technology solution options with pros and cons to the business stakeholder(s) for decision making
  • Evaluates Index Data Services delivery Progress by
    • Being accountable for each stage of the development process and delivery from Technology
    • Inspecting and evaluating progress
    • Determining whether the deliverables are acceptable to business
  • In General
    • Works closely with Project and Technical Delivery Management to understand project costs, risks, resourcing, and external dependencies outside of Technology.
    • Deeply understands both the Business and Technology Strategy for Index Data and related data products and the Index Data Platform respectively, as well as downstream platforms consuming data from IDPS. Can make decisions on behalf of Business and Technical Stakeholders to ensure alignment to both strategies within delivery. Responsible for deciding the trade-offs between scope, schedule, cost and quality, and actively communicating to both stakeholder groups.
    • Develops and maintains a Technology Strategic Roadmap in alignment with Business product roadmaps and strategies.
    • Works with Business Analysts & Scrum level product owners to break down Business Outcomes into high-level epics (features) and stories, provides content during analysis, contributes to the elaboration & acceptance criteria of Backlog tickets, and leads communication of the requirements to the team.
    • Maintains contact with Product Owners of other product/business areas to discuss process/functional dependencies and/or cross function/divisional dependencies.
