Carer / Care Assistant

Northwest Leeds / West Yorkshire

£10.50 per hour (after probation)

About the job

To assist other team members in the day to day running of the Care at Home service we deliver within the community. You will be maintaining a high standard of care and service towards service users, relatives, visitors, and other members of staff.

To deliver care to service users as directed by the service user plan for that individual, reporting any changes or concerns to the senior in charge or other nominated staff.

Some of your duties will include:

* Report both verbally and in writing on service user's general condition and well-being.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for service users and staff.
* Assist nurses in maintaining records and care plans on each shift (where nurses are employed).
* Make beds and use pressure care aids as directed.
* Assist in the collection of specimens and samples.
* Act as chaperon for medical and professional staff as may be required.
* Assist service users in maintaining their personal hygiene, dressing and going to bed.
* Report accidents and incidents to the senior member of staff on duty.
* Assist in the care of service users through the delivery of individual planned care programmes.

About You

Experience is not essential as full training will be given, but if you do hold an NVQ level 2 or working towards the qualification then we want to hear from you too!

You must have a willingness to learn as you will be required to undertake

* NVQ level 2 training in Direct Care (if not already qualified).
* Inhouse and external training which is appropriate to your role and has been identified through a training needs appraisal.

You will be keen to promote independence and dignity of service users whilst assisting in enabling them to live their chosen lifestyle. This will mean that you will need to be comfortable talking and listening to people, participating in social activities
