We are looking for Senior Category Manager to support regional procurement for our NHS client.
This is a full time requirement generally working 9 - 5 although there may be some flexibility. The role will be mostly remote working via MS Teams with some requirement to attend the East Midlands Pharmacy Collaborative (EMPC) Office at our Florence Nightingale Community Hospital (FNCH) site, namely on average about 1 day a week. There is no other travel required.

JOB PURPOSE:

1. To develop and lead a specific strategic sourcing programme for pharmacy and other defined categories, across of NHS Trusts in the East Midlands , taking the lead on specific/allocated portfolio of sourcing categories, and contributing significantly to the delivery of allocated procurement projects within key markets.

2. To support Directors of Procurement and Pharmacy in the delivery of cost and efficiency savings across a large number of Trusts, by analysing current spend information to develop procurement strategies.

3. To ensure contract compliance across the collaborative, pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets.

4. To meet customer requirements by demonstrating best value for money, through compliance with category priorities and contracts, and by actively managing the marketplace through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management.

5. Working with Senior Clinical Colleagues in developing Clinical Networks by providing input into appropriate collaborative clinical projects.

6. Senior activity in liaising with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance in the use of agreed standardised products, ensuring the range of items within catalogues is rationalised to an optimum level.

7. Setting up and/or working with established Product Evaluation Groups to evaluate products and fast track product rationalisation decisions.

8. Ensures processes are in place so that effective, collaborative equipment purchases, trials, and long term plans to allow for standardisation using evidence base and innovative practice across the health economy of the region.

9. Identifies and works with other government agencies and social services in the integration of purchasing/product service standardisation for health & government related services e.g. home care, schools, prisons, defence etc.

10. Works closely with Commissioning teams to ensure cohesive strategies in the delivery of products and services, standardisation of services

Key Area:

* Delivering Procurement Strategy

* To ensure the implementation of the strategic plan and that performance management systems are operating effectively to meet governance and achieve goals

* Ensure that local, regional and national purchasing (including national outsourced provider) plans are integrated within category management

* Awareness and implementation of national procurement initiatives undertaken by NHS Supply Chain, NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency, and the Office of Government Commerce. * Leadership & Team Development

* To ensure key relationships with other purchasing professionals and Clinical Category and Procurement Specialists to enable key management decisions to be made.

* To be responsible and to lead the category/purchasing teams effectively to achieve results, undertaking coaching, mentoring and performance management of direct reports

* To identify and ensure that support activities are established to enhance professional expertise and support the embedding of change management culture across the sector.

Category Management:

* To proactively lead and manage multiple programmes and develop collaborative relationship management regimes with NHS suppliers, ensuring maximum return on investment on commercial spend across the whole of the government sector

* Programme management of the tendering process from initial scoping to contract award in accordance with OJEU, UK legislation, and local Trust SO's and SFI's and governance procedures

* Lead and ensure the management of key areas of development within the organisation, e.g. review of purchasing procedures/quality manual, ICT systems, benchmarking, legal updates, and organising training of staff in these areas

!!! This is a full-time requirement working 9 - 5 and would be an ASAP start for 3 months initially !!!
Pay rate: £25-£30 depending on experience
