Our renowned client is a much-loved Scottish brand based in the West of Edinburgh. They are recruiting for a Finance Manager for Financial Accounting to play an integral role in the team. This role will initially be for a 6-month fixed term contract. It's a great opportunity to join an established & successful finance function with a well-known brand. This role will be responsible for the leadership & management of the income streams & associated tax within the organisation. This would ideally suit a skilled Accountant who is knowledgeable in revenue recognition & reconciliation, intercompany accounting, balance sheet management & taxation in particular VAT.

Job
The job of Finance Manager - Financial Accounting will give you the opportunity to be involved with the following:
- Leading a team of Finance Assistants
- Supporting preparation of the statutory accounts under FRS102 & OSCR SORP
- Supporting the annual audit cycle
- Responsible for all aspects of VAT including partial exemption calculations
- Balance sheet management, reconciliation & review
- Liaising with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to provide key input to the monthly management accounts & board reporting
- Supporting development of procedures in regards to income recognition & balance sheet management to ensure compliance with FRS102 & OSCR SORP
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant VAT & tax legislation & regulations
- Ensuring the accurate & complete reporting of c. 50 commercial & non commercial income streams & associated debtors for month end reporting
- Reviewing & managing of monthly processes to ensure accurate reporting of income
- Reconciling data to third party documentation
- Reconciling the financial system to the sales system across multiple payment methods
- Reconciling non-financial sales ledger information to external sales
- Calculating accrued/deferred income at month end/year end
- Involvement in planned Epos replacement project
- Implementing refunds, credit note process for all income streams
- Involvement in new income streams, providing a financial insight on new initiatives
- Developing high-level monthly board report to provide overview of debtors at month end
- Month end postings including write offs, provisions, income accruals, advance income
- Intercompany accounting
YOU
As Finance Manager - Financial Accounting you will be skilled &/or qualified in the following:
- Given the initial interim nature of the role it will be essential that you have a good knowledge of statutory accounts, liaising with auditors, preparing VAT returns & balance sheet management
- Ideally fully qualified but applications from QBE or PQ Accountants with relevant experience will very much be welcomed
- Ability to manage & manipulate large amounts of data
- Broad experience of balance sheet reconciliations, journals & preparing accounts
- Able to start a new role at reasonably short notice, ideally within 4 weeks
- Proven experience of implementing financial best practice
- Experience of working on integrated, complex financial systems with a focus on internal control framework & compliance activity
- Experience of supporting the development & implementation of policy, procedure & process change
- Strong communication skills
