An outstanding specialist SEND school in Harrow are looking for a teaching assistant to support pupils in one if their primary classes until the end of the academic year.
The Role
In this role you will be supporting 7 - 11 year-old children with autism and MLD throughout a range of multi-sensory academic lessons and therapy sessions. All pupils are highly cognitive but require support in focusing on tasks, communication and emotional well-being. You will be working alongside specialist teachers and therapists as well as other support staff. The school are open to applications from both experienced SEND teaching assistants and those who do not have experience, but a proactive, keen approach and a desire to work with children with SEND.
The School
This independent all-through Jewish special school is for children and young people aged 4 to 16 years with language, communication and social pragmatic difficulties. Rated Outstanding by Ofsted the school achieves excellent results and progression. Staff at the school work together in a multi-disciplinary approach to empower all learners to access the curriculum to their full potential and make good progress in all areas of their development. In the classroom, teachers plan multi-sensory lessons to support children's learning styles, with an emphasis on their emotional well-being. There is a therapy team, which includes Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, Dramatherapy, Art Therapy, Lego Therapy and an Educational Psychologist who provide on-going support within the day-to-day routine. Teaching Assistants play a vital role at the school in further assisting learners as they navigate their way through the day. The school has a dedicated leadership team in place and there is excellent opportunities for professional development for staff.
