Position: Finance Assistant
Responsible to: Finance Manager
Location: Swann Road, Cambridge, CB5 8LA
Hours: 30 hours per week, flexible working arrangements welcome
Salary: £23,676 - £25,170 per annum (£19,197 - £20,408 pro rata)
Pension: Workplace pension plan, with employer contribution of 5%

About The Charity

Cambridge Cyrenians has been providing accommodation and support to homeless men and women for over 50 years. We currently provide accommodation for 105 single people in flats, shared houses, and HMO's. Cambridge Cyrenians also provides a number of ancillary services which provide further support and opportunities to its residents and others affected by homelessness.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Finance Assistant to help support the objectives of our charity in meeting the needs of vulnerable, local, single homeless men and women. Based at our newly acquired headquarters in Cambridge created in response to our increased workload, you will work with the Finance Manager with specific responsibility for the Purchase Ledger and Rent Accounting, along with general finance administrative support.

Key responsibilities include:

Purchase Ledger

* Coding and posting invoices

* Processing payment runs to suppliers via online bank transfer

* Checking and reconciling supplier statements

* Investigating and reconciling purchase ledger queries

* Filing invoices and statements

* Dealing with purchase enquiries and invoicing

Rent Accounting

* Posting rent payments received into the Rent Ledger

* Posting and reconciling weekly rent transactions to Rent Ledger

* Taking rental and service charge payments from our residents by cash or card.

General Accounting

* General Ledger banking and credit card posting

* Processing staff expenses

* Such other financial and accounting work as may be required

About you

We are looking for an individual with an eye for detail and accuracy to make a difference at Cambridge Cyrenians, playing a pivotal role in this exciting period of growth so we can better support homeless men and women in Cambridge.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in data input, accounts payable and administration, preferably with, or working towards, an AAT level 3 or equivalent qualification. Experience within the charity sector is not essential.
