Job Description
We have an opportunity for a Credit Rating Analyst with a leading pension fund that has over 70Bn in AuM. The role itself sits within the 1st line of defence and works very closely with both the investment managers, analysts as well as colleagues in the credit risk function.

They are looking for someone with strong knowledge of rating methodology - ideally someone who is working for, or has worked at, a rating agency. The portfolio coverage is CRE, Infrastructure, Private Debt and Structured Finance, however, they are open to looking at candidates from any sector - corporates, FIG, Securitisation etc. The key skills is an understanding of rating methodology as this person will be the key point of contact for all rating methodology issues within the team.

There is fantastic growth potential, the role can be based in London or Edinburgh and they are operating a hybrid model - 2 days in the office and 3 working from home.

The firm has a large portfolio of loans to corporate entities in a number of sectors and this team own the internal credit rating methodologies that are used to rate those loans. They are particularly interested in attracting somebody who has worked at a credit rating agency or for another financial institution on the methodology side, relating specifically to internal credit ratings.

This is not a modelling role, instead, they want someone who can think about rating methodology and the different factors that affect the risk and how much weight should be given to the different the different risk factors. They are not looking low default portfolios or adopting a big data analysis type of type of exercise, it's much more judgmental and closer to how credit rating agencies approach rating such asset classes, how to get comfortable that those approaches are reasonable and ensuring that there is consensus with the investment teams.
