Role: Finance Business Partner (Costing)

Location: East Midlands

Type: 6 months

Salary: £189 per day

Finance Business Partner required to join a fast paced organisation based in East Midlands. My client is looking for an enthusiastic individual who is technically advanced who has excellent NHS costing experience.

As a Finance Business Partner (Costing) you will be required:

To develop a strong and complex understanding of service lines to guide the design and application of complex apportionment rules and the design of appropriate reporting
To assist within the design complex costing apportionment methodologies and assist in the integration of these methodologies within the costing system and database
To develop, implement and maintain project plans for CMGs in relation to work streams arising from information provided by PLICs. Continual in-depth analysis and evaluation of outputs to aid further development of costing rules and processes
To provide specialist training and advice to users across the Trust including senior clinicians, senior managers and finance managers to increase the level of awareness and understating of service profitability within CMGs
To work closely with CMGs and the Trust information department to ensure integrity of patient feeder systems and further develop data sources for use in patient level costing software.
To support the delivery of budgets within CMG's through the identification of clinical variance and potential saving opportunities
To advise on all enquiries relating to costing guidance, methodologies and outputs, ensuring that accurate and timely advice and training are effectively communicated
To support national and local benchmarking projects in association with patient level and Trust reference costs.
To act on all internal/external audit reviews and recommendations in relation to costing processes within the Trust.
Responsible for the supervision, development and allocation of workloads of junior staff. This will include developing training materials specific to costing processes and systems. The post holder will undertake annual appraisals of staff and set clear objectives and personal development plans.
To have knowledge of the Payment by Results (PBR) regime and its implications within the costing function. To keep up to date with NHS guidance in respect of costing and PBR.
Undertake other finance projects on an ad-hoc basis as required.

Required skills and experience of the Finance Business Partner (Costing):

Experience of recent financial management or costing within the NHS, including patient level and reference costing
Managerial/Supervisory experience
Proven technical expertise in data analysis such as Access, Excel, Business Objects, SQL
Tactful, diplomatic and at ease with all kinds of people at all levels across the organisation
Experience of complex analyses involving large volumes of data and highly advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database
Experience of implementing costing systems in a healthcare environment
Highly developed specialist skills in interrogating systems for analytical purposes
