Makaton Assistant
Learning Support Makaton Assistant- uses speech with signs and symbols to help people communicate.
Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Start date: ASAP
Salary: £1350-£1600
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
We are looking for a qualified SEND teaching assistant for a role within a PRU provision within Tameside, Greater Manchester. You will be working with KS3 children, who are academically working at a KS2 level, with special educational needs. The children have struggles communicating with others.
The ideal candidate is somebody who is willing to make a difference in a child's social, emotional, and mental health progression. Can assess the needs of individual students and maintain appropriate records when required. The learning support assistant will have knowledge of the requirements of delivering education to students with SEND, with the ability to select appropriate resources to create a stimulating learning environment.
The learning support assistant will work in partnership with the teacher with individual pupils and/or with small groups of pupils to assist in the process of, and to promote, teaching and learning. The LSA will cover groups in the absence of the teacher, supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

Ability to use basic technology - computer, photocopier, iPad etc.
Ability to relate well to children and adults
Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
Experience in working with children with SEND and SEMH
Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the PRU.
