Are you keen to become a qualified Teaching Assistant? Fancy a career change? Leaving School/College this summer and not sure what to do next?

Would you like to work in a local Secondary School while you gain a Level 3 TA qualification?

This excellent opportunity is a chance for someone looking to start a career as a TA in which you will gain practical experience of working in a secondary school environment while learning the theory to gain a Level 3 TA qualification. This Apprentice Teaching Assistant role would be working to support the school's SEN department to support a set number of pupils with a wide range of SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs to forge relationships with pupils to build trust and understanding. You will join a team of experienced staff led by a very experienced and long standing SENCO who work hard to support the pupils and each other in this busy environment.

Duties and responsibilities will include:
  • The successful candidate will be working with pupils who have Educational Health Care Plans or are on the SEN register in particular those who have SEMH needs. They will work with pupils ranging from year 7 -11 covering all curriculum areas. Support will include working within whole classes, small group work and 1:1 interventions.
  • The school are looking for candidates who are patient, caring and calm and who can motivate and encourage students who sometimes find the school environment challenging.

You will learn with System People a friendly and local training provider here in Carlisle. We offer a range of learning support methods which include virtual Zoom lesson delivery, face to face workshops, online interactive learning platform and 1-2-1 tutor support.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English for this position.
