Overview of a Community Safety Officer
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Community Safety Officer to join an expanding team.The role of a Community Safety Officer has a competitive pay rate of £32.00 per hour, increasing in line with Harrow Council Pay Scale increments. Other benefits include, accruing up to 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays) and the opportunity to apply for any internal permanent roles within Harrow Council.

The Main Purpose of a Community Safety Officer:

Work collaboratively and carry out work schedules to service standards to achieve high standards and customer satisfaction
Use IT systems and specialist software relevant to the appropriate disciplines, including recording of all work to allow performance management analysis
To issue letters, notices, legal documents, formal cautions, warnings, and other documents as required by legislation, guidance and policies
To keep abreast of legislative, technical and professional developments in relation to anti-social behaviour legislation and policy
In line with authorisation, carry out investigations, instigate and prepare prosecutions, attend court proceedings and deliver evidence in the event of statutory action taken for breaches
To ensure full compliance with established legal procedures and legislation relevant to the preservation of evidence and court procedures, including PACE, CPIA, RIPA and similar
Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, find innovative solutions to problems and influencing stakeholders to adopt best practice approaches to meet Council and Statutory outcomes
To advise councillors, managers and senior officers on legislation relevant to the role of the team
To exercise professional judgement in contentious or legal cases so as to protect the environment, residents and businesses, and the interests of the wider community
To Participate in and lead on publicity campaigns, customer service improvement plans and joint initiatives across Council services and with other agencies as directed
To Investigate service requests and complaints emanating from domestic and commercial premises, taking appropriate enforcement or prevention actions as appropriate
Recognise and ascertain risks and impacts on individuals and/or the community, making clear decisions and take relevant mitigating actionsAbout you, the successful candidate will have:

Expert knowledge of the legislative framework of Anti-Social Behaviour,
Extensive knowledge of the ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014
Awareness of broader resourcing sector / external influences
Well-developed interpersonal, persuasion and negotiation skills to build relationships and influence the stakeholder community
A working knowledge of relevant Health, Safety and Welfare legislation and approved Codes of Practices
Understanding of the political context and environment of Local Government
Experience in the investigation and preparation and presentation of cases for enforcement or prevention activities e) Experience of working with a range of stakeholders from public, private and third sector organisations
Proven experience working in anti-social behaviour reduction or an associated area g) Experience of working across more than one area of service provision and capable of delivering service at a high level across more than one service area
