Major Recruitment are partnering exclusively with an established market leading client to recruit for an Imports and Purchasing Manager.

Role:- Imports and Purchasing Manager

Location:- North Lincolnshire

Salary:- £40,000 - £45,000 depending upon experience

Overview:-

As the Imports and Purchasing manager this role will lead a small team of 4 and have full responsibility for the purchasing and importing of products from an international supplier base.

The role is hands on and the successful candidate will also be responsible for the planning and management of stock levels to ensure market leading service levels to our customers whilst supporting proactive working capital management.

Duties will include but aren't limited to:-

Manage production orders to suppliers, purchasing and import scheduling with an international customer base.
Ensure stock for all product ranges is at optimum levels to provide strong customer service with an eye on effective working capital management.
Work with the Sales and Finance teams to identify commercial and pricing opportunities which can maximise sales.
Evaluate, update, and improve current supply chain, logistics and purchasing processes.
Review, forecast and prepare schedules with regard to stock control, inventory and purchasing.
Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly/annual reporting
Determine, negotiate, and manage supplier agreements on goods and services.
Review current purchasing process for non-direct spend and bring under the control of the Purchasing Team where this would provide improved controls and efficiency's (some non-direct spend currently is managed by other departments).The ideal candidate will posses or be able to demonstrate:-

Strong experience in procurement including negotiations and managing contractual relationships with international suppliers.
Ability to adapt procurement strategies in fast moving market conditions.
Strong experience in ocean freight procedure.
Experience in managing stock within an environment of long shipping times.
Strong analytical background, using data to identify and drive business opportunities and minimise risk.
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, delivering key information in a timely and easy to understand way.
Team player and a positive attitude towards new and existing challenges.
Experience in management and supervision of a purchasing team, who are responsible for all day-to-day procurement and shipping activities.
Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
CIPS qualification Minimum Level 4 or QBE equivalent
Experience in procurement specifically with Indian and Chinese suppliers.
Experience in Building Materials.
Contributing to Customer Pricing decisions using actual and upcoming cost information.
