As hands on leader of the Settlements team within EMEA Financial Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and covering the commodities and brokerage settlement day-to-day functions, while being involved in a wide variety of projects and process enhancements. Products are varied and include European power & gas, LNG, emissions, IRS, FX as well as oil financial derivatives and the brokerage settlement of these.

  • Supervise a team of Settlements Analysts, and be actively involved in the processing of daily, monthly, and ad-hoc settlements for FX, European Power Gas, IRS, LNG, Oil Derivatives, Emissions and Brokerage.
  • Supervise and be involved in settlements of brokerage.
  • Be flexible about covering different functions within the day and appropriately prioritise among tasks
  • Act as first point of escalation to the team members.
  • Escalate to manager as appropriate.
  • Understand trade bookings across the commodity spectrum.
  • Manage settlements related communication with counterparties.
  • Ensure team meets daily treasury funding deadlines.
  • Ensure team proactively chases breaks and escalated in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that team adequately prioritises all risk items and escalated where appropriate.
  • Work closely with multiple teams within the organisation and in multiple locations (IT, Credit, Scheduling, Trading, MO, and Trade Finance).
  • Analyse and develop team procedures.
  • Focus on continuously improving existing processes, identify, initiate, and work through process enhancements.
  • Opportunity further down the line to expand to oversee collateral function.

  • Extensive work-based experience in power and gas settlements.
  • Experience in other energy commodities and derivatives.
  • Experience in supervision, team leadership.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Strong grasp of operational risks.
  • Excellent numerical and Excel skills.
  • Strong system skills (familiarity with Openlink/Endur and or ICTS is an advantage).
  • Committed to seeing issues through until they are resolved.
  • Project ownership and delivery experience.
  • Able to prioritise and escalate effectively.
  • Able to withstand pressure.
  • Confidence in own abilities.
  • Strong excel skills (lookup functions, formulas, VBA).
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead a team and work as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
