£70 - £80 per day

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for 2 Learning Support Assistants to work in a Year 2 and Year 5 classes for one of our partnership Welsh medium primary schools in Cardiff. The successful Learning Support Assistants will be working within a Primary school in Foundation Phase and KS2 classes, supporting the teacher, getting classrooms prepared for lesson and managing challenging behaviours. This position will be running up until the end of this academic year, with the potential to carry on into the new academic year. Interviews to be held over the next week online via Microsoft Teams.

What do I need to be a Learning Support Assistant?

A passion for education
An enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (Teaching Personnel can provide assistance)
Valid registration with the EWC (Teaching Personnel can provide assistance)
Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects (or equivalent)
No educational qualifications are necessary
Fluent Welsh Speaker
The successful Learning Support Assistants will be working in the primary section of a through school in a Year 2 class and a Year 5 class. Our partnership school has indicated that the successful candidates do not require previous experience working within a school or formal education environment, but it is preferred. Candidates looking to get into teaching but have alternate experience such as working in care, support worker, sports coach or any personal or professional experience supporting vulnerable adults or children are accepted.

What are the responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant?

Welcome and greet the students in the morning
Communicate and take direction from the teacher
Support the teacher's delivery of education to the class
Assist the learning and development of students by explaining tasks, reading out work and keeping them focused
Manage any challenging behaviours in accordance with School policy
