New Forest Mencap is a small local charity that works with vulnerable individuals with a learning disability, their families and local communities to improve their social inclusion.
What will you be doing?
Lottery funding has enabled us to employ an Information, Advice and Guidance professional and a Life Skills development officer. We have additional funding to employ an Employability and Volunteering officer. Our General Manager oversees our day-to-day activities and fund raising. We completed a renovation of the Nedderman Centre in 2019 and continue to develop new services. Trustees would like to increase their range of skills and diversity through recruitment of up to five new Trustees.
What are we looking for?
The current Board would like to increase their range of skills and diversity through recruitment of up to five new Trustees with experience and or expertise in the following areas:
- Income generation or marketing
- Financial control and strategy
- Business, Organisation and Management
- Learning disability and/or Youth/Children Services
- Social enterprise
- Policy experience
- Academic research or impact assessment
- Digital Media, systems and networking
As an organisation we are particularly keen to ensure that our Trustees are fully representative of the community in which we work and we would warmly welcome applications from people with a diverse range of background, ethnicity, gender, culture and physical ability. We welcome people who can bring their experience, knowledge and skills to the benefit of our charity and its beneficiaries.
The Board currently meets monthly in New Milton for 2-3 hours.
