Would you like to share your skills, expertise and passion for innovation and social justice with an award winning charity?

What will you be doing?

CoLab Exeter was launched in June 2016 as a multi-agency wellbeing hub, designed to help people with complex life situations and health challenges. Over the last five years its structure and function has evolved to meet local needs and aspirations.

Our overarching aim is to provide a single point of contact for people needing help or access to expertise and opportunity. It is to build the capability and capacity of people to maintain health and wellbeing, and participate in community life. It is also to make the best use of available resources, and maintain optimum conditions for the work to influence positive change.

The CoLab Community itself is passionate about improving outcomes in four primary areas:

  • Collaboration to improve Recovery
  • Collaboration for Social Justice
  • Collaboration to improve Health and Wellbeing
  • Collaboration to generate a sense of Belonging

The Board have supported the team during this transition, and they too have adapted and evolved. There is real appetite now to build on this foundation and take the initiative to the next phase of its development.

We are now looking to recruit additional new Trustees who share our values and mission and who are able to offer their time, commitment, and expertise to help us realise our ambitions and take CoLab into the next phase of its development.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Organisational or financial sustainability and growth
  • Marketing, communications and public relations
  • Legal, human resources or contracts & procurement
  • Local business or arts and culture

What are we looking for?

If you're passionate about helping people with complex needs, can empathise with the challenges facing our client group and would enjoy a trustee role that is likely to broaden your horizons, we'd love to hear from you.

As well as an interest in charity governance and/or a knowledge of working with or supporting people with complex needs; we are looking for Trustees who are able to understand the challenges and opportunities facing the organisation as we progress though our next phase of development.

We are looking for trustees who can offer new insights and solutions that will contribute to the further development and direction of our organisation. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Organisational or financial sustainability and growth
  • Marketing, communications and public relations
  • Legal, human resources or contracts & procurement
  • Local business or arts and culture

What difference will you make?

We are committed to offering opportunities for people to volunteer across all areas of our organisation and we really value the diversity that volunteers bring to our hub. In return we aim to offer interesting and inclusive opportunities for people to get involved with our work and gain new skills and experience along the way.

What's in it for the volunteer?

Trustees are an essential part of our organisation and will have opportunities to contribute to the impact of our wok on many levels, through contributing to Governance policy and procedures, getting involved with projects, and supporting staff and senior managers to develop strategy, as well as having opportunities to attend organisational events and activities.

Time commitment

Currently Board meetings take place quarterly with occasional interim sub-committee meetings and working groups.
