This is a high-profile role within the company and will come with a high level of responsibility.

We are looking for an ambitious senior developer with leadership skills to help get the most out of our engineering team as we look to the next stage of our journey and beyond, could this be you?…

Role Info:

Engineering Manager
Remote Based / Swindon HQ c2 Days Per Week
£85,000 – £100,000
Plus Company Benefits Package
Permanent – Full Time

Skillset: Analysis, OO design specification, programming, mentoring & training.
Methodologies: Agile/Kanban, TDD/BDD, Continuous integration and Delivery.

Who we are:

With an existing and highly satisfied customer base of very well-known large international Blue-Chip enterprises, we are a secure and dynamically growing Software business with a 20-year history of stability and profit from offices near Shrivenham on the Oxfordshire / Cotswolds border. The next few years will be an exciting time for the company as growth explodes.

Our jobs come with fantastic perks as well – our new office has a private gym attached which you can use whenever you want, you get private health insurance and there are pension and bonus options for all successful candidates. 25 days annual leave, bank holidays on top of that and the option to purchase more. Once a month we have a pit stop lunch with pizza or deli provided.

The Engineering Manager Role:

You will report into the CPO/Interim CTO but we hope you will play a role in the future
structure of the engineering team as the business develops.

Your responsibility will fall into two categories – supporting and coaching our engineers and being responsible for the delivery of our product and technical roadmaps.

Focusing on the team you will be helping them with their personal and professional development, listening, guiding them through hard times and celebrating their successes. With a team that is a mix of off-shore and on-shore and remote you will make sure there is a strong team spirit and the team are happy and fulfilled in their work.

From a delivery perspective, you will work with the different product owners to provide accurate, and realistic timescales to deliver to the product and technical roadmap. You will then work with the product team and Scrum Master to then make sure the team delivers to these timelines. We have a big focus on quality and so you will be responsible for making sure that the team delivers high quality code and features in a timely manner.

You’re unlikely to be particularly hands-on with the code, but will have enough technical experience to be able to contribute to and guide technical discussions, bringing the big picture context.

About You:

You will have experience with most of the following:

+ Managing multiple teams of engineers – currently you will be responsible for at least 9 developers potentially split into two teams
+ You have experience of managing teams across both on-shore and offshore locations as well as supporting hybrid working practices
+ You have been a software engineer building user-focused products at pace
+ Proven ability to deliver Enterprise products to budget and time
+ You have technical & architectural expertise, and have evolved a growing code base, technology stack and architecture over many years
+ Have delivered Enterprise distributed cloud applications
+ Understand the value of high-quality code and can effectively manage technical debt
+ Ideally you would have experience in SaaS solutions and Financial Services
+ Proven stakeholder management
+ Proven ability to wear many hats, technical, operational, strategic, customer/client facing
+ Proven experience mentoring and growing technology and development teams
+ Your style is collaborative, to encourage your team to improve their code
+ You're a natural recruiter, passionate about building your team

The following skills would be advantageous:

+ Language: PHP (7.1+ onwards), Typescript/Javascript, HTML(5), CSS(3)

+ Database: AWS Aurora MySQL

Company

We’re Talent Acquisition Specialists that founded change in 2005. Since then we’ve helped over 2500 clients grow, prosper and lead.

# Our Story

Frustrated by poor experiences with traditional agencies, our founders (just two regular candidates), decided that the outdated industry needed modernising and a new balance of power. In 2005, a new kind of agency model was born, putting the client and candidate at the heart of the experience whilst removing the pushy sales, schmooze and high fees.

# What makes us different?

Aside from a sensible fee model, custom technology and a direct unhindered path to candidates we…

…don’t sell candidates and we don’t sell jobs: we facilitate relationships and champion the process of ‘organic hiring’ to help create stronger and longer-lasting engagements.

# Who we work with

With an industry reputation for delivering results we are the go-to talent finders for tech start-ups to global brands who all demand the best service and talent.

From business owners hiring 2 people a year to Internal Recruiting teams hiring 200+ people a year, RR sources talent across all sectors and levels.

# Reputation

Our expertise has also been called upon by some of the leading job boards including the UK’s No1. Reed.co.uk.
