Our client DENSO Marston based in West Yorkshire, have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, focused and motivated Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer.

This role is responsible for the development of the supplier quality processes and the coaching and development of the supplier quality team. Leading a team to improve our supplier quality performance into the facility and reduce risks to our external customers. As well as leading the team the candidate will be responsible for leading the implementation of strategic and tactical supplier quality improvement initiatives driven from our long-term quality improvement plan, leading to the creation of true supplier partnerships. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, ambitious, and capable of progressing to leadership roles within the organisation.

Working hours:

Mon - Thurs 8:30 - 5:00

Fri 8:30 - 1:30

Flexi-time of 30 minutes at either side of the core hours is available Mon - Thurs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead coach and develop a team of supplier quality personnel
  • Utilising supplier quality performance data, analyse suppliers' quality performance, identify trends and create improvement action plans.
  • Lead the continual improvement of the SQAM (Supplier Quality Assurance Manual
  • Lead strategic objectives deployed from the Long-term Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
  • Identify trends supplier PPAP submission & drive improvements with suppliers to improve PPAP Right first-time & on-time submissions
  • Lead supplier development activities, leading activities in lean and quality improvement approaches to deliver supply chain benefits
  • Create monthly management reports & report into the management & senior management groups
  • Assure the timely resolution of supplier issues ensuring
  • Deputise for the Quality Assurance manager
  • Act as a conduit to provide supplier feedback back into the business, driving internal activities to improve supplier engagement and partnering
  • Participate in corporate driven Supplier Quality Improvement forums, ensuring local application of changes
  • Assure the timely & effective resolution of supplier non-conformances utilising structured problem-solving techniques (8D). Assess submissions and provide coaching to the SQI team to develop performance and knowledge
  • Manage a portfolio of suppliers within an assigned commodity group
  • Manage the supplier audit schedule & conduct supplier audits as required
  • Support concurrent engineering between DENSO and supplier, ensuring the supplier quality function deliver New Product Introduction Deliverables and expectations


Essential Skills/Experience

  • 6 Sigma Black Belt qualified (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a lead / senior supplier quality engineering position
  • Experience of leading & managing a supplier quality engineering
  • Experience within a related engineering field
  • Automotive quality management experience preferred
  • Qualified IATF lead auditor
  • Hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Detailed understanding of structured problem-solving methodologies (8D reports)
  • Detailed theoretical & practical understanding of quality core tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
