Our client is a growing multi site operation who are setting up a new Acquisitions finance team. The new team will consist of 4 new hires. They are currently recruiting a Finance Manager who will manage 1 part qualified Management Accountant. The wider Acquisitions team will also include an FD and a Systems Accountant who you would work closely with. The team will be involved from day 1 of acquisition and see the acquisitions through to full integration and handover with the BAU team. There will be multiple acquisitions at any given time with 6 already planned to hit by the end of March.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in the creation of an integration plan for each newly acquired business to ensure the migration to the business processes and system is efficient and well organized and communicated. Where appropriate take the lead role in executing this plan and ensure it is delivered as proposed.
  • Recruit, develop and mentor a Management Accountant, giving them the skills and knowledge to complete the necessary accounting transactions from acquisition date until it can be migrated into BAU processes.
  • Assist in the finance Due Diligence process - this will be key in order to identify any potential issues prior to completion to allow time to understand and plan for those areas identified.
  • Support with developing a periodic reporting pack for the board to report on the YTD performance of the acquisitions versus expectations/acquisition budget. Highlighting synergies which have be realised as well as those that have not yet been.
  • Attendance at integration meetings to help drive decision making and ensure implications on both finance and the wider central functions are identified, understood and acceptable before they are approved.
  • Attendance post completion at acquisition sites to meet the team and review finance processes and controls. Ensuring that the business can gain oversight and where appropriate control of the newly acquired entity - this will involve a review of all financial controls, processes and team members within the acquired business.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with the incumbent management structure and acquired finance team to ensure a smooth handover process
  • Involvement in the banking switchover from current banking mandates to the businesses mandate and ensuring that teh business have full oversight and control of all acquisition bank accounts.
  • Document and challenge the controls and processes in place at newly acquired sites to determine if they are sufficient or if they differ from the existing businesses.
  • Review and challenge monthly management accounts production and compare to acquisition budget.
  • Ensuring the smooth transition of accounting procedures from the newly acquired entity into our accounting system and our group reporting post integration.
  • Successfully integrate the results and budgets of acquired companies into the Group's monthly management accounts pack, ensuring acquired company's accounting package is set up to enable reporting in line with the businesses chart of accounts
  • Develop an acquisitions checklist that can be used in all future acquisitions
  • Provide guidance and support to other members of the Acquisitions team as required
  • Work with members of the businesses finance team so that post integration there is a smooth handover to the financial controller responsible for business as usual.
  • Dealing with ad-hoc queries from the acquisition or from the business following acquisition / integration.
  • Recruiting, developing and embedding a new Management Accountant
  • Volume and diversity of acquisitions expected throughout 2022.
  • Obtaining accurate and timely information from off-site locations
  • Working cross functionally with teams with conflicting priorities and ensuring the best decisions for the Group are made.

A salary of £55,000-£60,000 is on offer plus benefits.
