DCC is seeking a skilled and experienced Portfolio Planning Manager to join our talented and dynamic team supporting a significant portfolio of change. This is a key role that is critical to the successful delivery of the DCC change portfolio.
You'll be working as part of the DCC Portfolio Office and help continue to develop a high performing and progressive team that challenges and enables the business to keep moving forward and works with them to deliver our collective goals.
Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Office, the Portfolio Planning Manager is responsible for developing and embedding programme and project planning standards and capability and building and maintaining the pipeline of planned and in-flight work. Working with business stakeholders across the DCC, including programmes, projects, operations and commercial teams you will capture key strategic initiatives, in flight programmes and continuous improvement activities (including operational maintenance activities) to be scheduled for delivery, onto a detail Plan on a Page
Working with business stakeholders, Finance and Planning teams, establishing an enduring process for maintaining the Portfolio roadmap covering potential and planned work for the Programmes and Change Team.
Maintaining a business-wide understanding of strategy and planned change initiatives - including programme and project, operations, maintenance schedules, 3rd party tech refresh.
Providing insight into opportunities and impact arising from planned change, in order to inform optionality and support decision making.
Building and maintaining a Portfolio Plan on a Page (POAP) showing key milestones, decision points, interdependencies, conflicts, opportunities that enables customer impact, service impact and delivery impact to be determined.
Work with Programme and Project practices and cross-business stakeholders to establish best practice planning standards, guidance and templates that enable improvements in planning completeness and accuracy.
Lead on planning skills training and ongoing quality assurance and continuous improvement of planning disciplines.
Collaborating with DCC Portfolio team to innovate and constantly improve ways of working, tools and frameworks.
Skills and Experiences:
Enterprise Programme Delivery - 5+ years experience of leading / delivering successful change planning in large, complex and regulated technology centric programme environments with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.
Leadership - significant experienced in leading, managing and growing planning capability and enabling optimisation of processes and ways of working. A recognised leader of people with the ability to influence, shape and drive improvement initiatives across teams and the broader change delivery community.
Collaboration - Excellent relationship development/ management skills with the confidence to effectively challenge others where appropriate.
Effective communication - with an ability to filter/interpret technical programme updates and provide clear, concise reports for non-technical audiences.
Attention to detail and an analytical ability - to help propose solutions to problems and appropriately prioritise activities.
Strong initiative and drive, self-motivated with an aptitude to work well under pressure and with low supervision.
Tooling - Advanced user of MS project and proficient user of PPM applications (e.g. Clarity) and MS applications including Sharepoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
Experience of working within the Energy Sector.
Knowledge of the Smart Energy Code and DCC Licence Conditions.
Knowledge of the Smart Metering Implementation Programme and DCC's role.
Preferred but not essential subject to experience:
Batchelor's Degree qualification
Industry recognized certification preferred but not essential subject to experience (e.g. APM, PMP, P3O, PRINCE 2)
