SEN Support Staff required in Kidderminster

Due to the expansion and intake of additional pupils a great opportunity has arisen for 2 specialist SEND teaching assistants to work with young people with Autism and challenging behaviour in an alternative holistic provision based in Kidderminster, a short drive from Bridgnorth.

The school is set in a period property with extensive grounds and offers both education and residential care for pupils. Most of the children have Autism with complex physical needs, sensory processing disorders, global delay and have communication problems.

Then school offer bespoke SEND packages of education for the students and believe that the children in their care will thrive when their provision is tailored to their specific unique needs.

These roles have the potential to become permanent for passionate and dedicated staff with an annual salary of between £18,000 - £21,000 per annum.

You will need to be a reflective practitioner with -

Resilience, patience, creativity and empathy.

Excellent knowledge of the needs of SEN students and how best to support them and see through challenging behaviour.

A good understanding of SEND pupils with sensory needs.

Relevant training in SEND is essential.

Some knowledge about a range of interventions and their impact on meeting the needs of children and young people with an EHCP.

The ability to help deliver creative and innovative lessons to engage reluctant of learners.

Experience of de-escalation techniques would be a distinct advantage but not necessary.

Experience of PECS, Makaton and/or TEACCH would be desirable.
