SEMH TEACHING ASSISTANT

Our partner school is seeing a Teaching Assistant to start work immediately for a long term position. The school offers a safe learning environment for pupils living with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

We require a Teaching Assistant who has existing experience within an alternative provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant - you will be offering 1:1 and group support to students, working in collaboration with the class teacher and pastoral lead. You will have an understanding approach to those who suffer from SEMH. You must be an empathetic person who is adept in building positive relationships.

Requirements

To be considered for a SEN role, you will:
  • Have experience working in a Special Education needs setting.
  • Be experienced in working with smaller nurture groups with varying levels of SEN
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of school staff
  • Ideally have experience delivering literacy and numeracy
  • Ideally be Team-Teach trained though not essential
  • Great sense of humour and positive outlook to engage and manage students challenging behvaour.
