TEMPORARY LEGAL EXECUTIVE (Qualified)

Location: London

Hourly rate: £28.00 - £35.00

Position: Full-Time

Work From Hour: Flexible hybrid model when business as usual

Job Purpose

Legal executive working within Directorate of Legal Services.

To provide a high quality, cost-effective legal service to the Government Body. Delivering accurate timely advice and representation in relation to legal issues surrounding disclosure of information in family proceedings thereby supporting Child Abuse Investigation Teams, the work is at the forefront of safeguarding.
  • Duties include:
  • Manage caseload of care proceedings for example of Children Public matters & Private Law Children matters
  • Providing advice on and the conduct of cases involving adult social services issues.
  • Drafting Court documents
  • Advocacy
  • Liaising with experts other parties and other professionals stakeholders
  • Attending Legal Planning meetings, taking instructions and advising clients
  • Instructing Counsel
  • Dealing with both threats of and extant judicial review proceedings
  • Dealing with residence issues and processing Court of Protection and Welfare applications for example

Responsibilities:

To provide legal advice and representation, as required and often at short notice, to ensure that material disclosed will not prejudice complex criminal investigations involving serious allegations of crime. Make applications for disclosure of material in possession of local authorities to assist with the investigation of crime.

To provide legal advice when the body is seeking disclosure from our partners such as Local Authorities to assist in criminal investigations. Also, to provide general advice on family law matters.

To be able to critically analyse information, provide effective written and oral advice, organise a complex workload and work collaboratively with a variety of colleagues and other stakeholders in a publicly accountable environment.

To demonstrate good oral and written skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, as well sound judgement and analytical skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Support the work of the Family Disclosure Team being the central point of contact for all family disclosure requests.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Lawyer
  • Extensive knowledge of Public and Children Law
  • Resident in the UK for last 5 years
  • At least 3 years experience working within a similar role
