Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Technician - 6-8 month contract - UK

As an experienced EC&I Technician, you'll be responsible for the delivery of preventative maintenance of electrical systems, controls and instrumentation, attending to any reactive/correct maintenance, fault finding, completing any repairs/replacements/calibration to instrumentation, installation of new systems/equipment, commissioning. You'll be inspecting, modifying and testing electrical and instrumentation components across power plant assets on site.


- Installing, configuring, calibrating and maintaining control, measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog & digital)
- Configuring and programming Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC);
- Installing and terminating electrical, pneumatic and fluid connections;
- Fault finding and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems
- Testing of installations
- Interpreting engineering drawings, schedules and vendor specifications
- Liaison with clients, contractors and appropriate authorities
- 'Red pen' construction drawings and documentation
- Leading a small team or working as part of a larger team to ensure work is completed on time and to the quality standards
- Adherence to client regulations and standards.

Skills & Experience

- Knowledge and experience of maintaining a biomass or thermal power plant process, permit and safety systems
- General knowledge and experience of DCS/HMI, electrical systems, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators and transformers.
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance/defect repair of motors, switchgear, instruments, and control systems including SCADA.
- An understanding and ability to read P&ID and isometric diagrams
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite and ideally previous CMMS experience.
- Good verbal/written communication skills in English.
- Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, flexible, and committed attitude.

- NVQ level 3 in an Electrical or C&I engineering discipline is essential, along with a high level of practical thermal/process plant maintenance experience.
- A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement, with IOSH Managing Safely a preferred requirement.
